  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 10 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together cake flour, 1 cup of sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg whites, then fold in vanilla, almond extract, and pink food coloring.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
  8. Remove from the oven and invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.

Notes

  • Make sure to use room temperature eggs for better volume.
  • Do not grease the pan, as the batter needs to cling to the sides to rise.
