  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 16 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cheesecake)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool completely before removing them from the pans.
  7. For the cheesecake layer, beat cream cheese until smooth, then add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well.
  8. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to soft peaks and fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  9. Once the cakes are cooled, place one layer on a serving plate, spread the cheesecake mixture on top, then layer with the second cake.
  10. Chill the completed cheesecake in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.
