  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before frosting with your favorite cream cheese frosting.
