Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough and cut into rectangles.
  7. Fill half of the rectangles with cheese and bacon.
  8. Place the other half of the rectangles on top, seal and crimp the edges.
  9. Brush with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
