- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough and cut into rectangles.
- Fill half of the rectangles with cheese and bacon.
- Place the other half of the rectangles on top, seal and crimp the edges.
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
