Spooky Baked Ziti Recipe

A deliciously spooky twist on a classic baked ziti, perfect for family gatherings and Halloween celebrations.

  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add turkey bacon and cook until crispy.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet; sauté until the onion is translucent.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Combine the cooked ziti with the sauce in a large bowl.
  7. Transfer half of the ziti mixture to a baking dish. Layer with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Top with the remaining ziti and cheeses.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
  • For a vegetarian version, simply omit the turkey bacon.
