- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and half of the sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites, salt, and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the remaining sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in the flour mixture, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake is golden and springs back when lightly pressed.
- Invert the pan and let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, remove the cake from the pan and serve topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
