Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Light and fluffy, this Strawberry Angel Food Cake is the perfect dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and half of the sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites, salt, and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the remaining sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold in the flour mixture, vanilla, and almond extract.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake is golden and springs back when lightly pressed.
  8. Invert the pan and let it cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, remove the cake from the pan and serve topped with strawberries and whipped cream.

Notes

  • Ensure not to grease the pan to help the cake rise properly.
  • This cake can be made a day in advance.
